I did some more work on fitting the fairings, I've figured out how to mount it and i'm pretty confident on the positioning.
I then went back to the problem getting the rad on under the fairings, there is no chance they'll fit over the rad, it's way too wide and looking back in my blog I see i'd already noticed this. I'll be busy with other things for the next few weekends so that will give me time to figure out what to do. I really dont want to have to fork out £300 for a new F3 radiator.

Trial fit of the fairings
I offered the fairings up to the bike, straight away it fouled on the radiator, which is strange as this rad is narrower than the original. It will fit, i'll have to trim the fairings, but for now i removed the radiator to make it easier to get the fairing in the correct position.
Clearance to the brake lever is tight |
Bit lopsided, the main problem i have is not being able to get the fairing high enough so it doesn't block the ram air tube from under the yoke. When i get it that high it fouls the brake lever. |
Seat mounting
I finished the seat mounting points on the subframe. I've made quite a few mistakes with this one, but at least i can learn from them when i make the next subframe. I still have quite a bit to do, off the top of my head; make the battery box, weld on a bracket to bolt the back end of the tank, exhaust mounting points etc...
The rear stand is quite high making the angle look a bit steep, the seat is actually at the same height/angle as the original road seat. The welds are quite messy, but i've almost got the hang of tig welding aluminium now.
